PUBLIC SERVICE

The brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha have a long and distinguished history, evidencing a strong commitment to charity and social awareness, by charitable fund-raising and public service to the community and the University of Pennsylvania.

In a column appearing in the December 4, 1940 issue of The Daily Pennsylvanian, a charitable effort known as the Christian Association – Louis Marshall Drive (C.A.-L.M. Drive), was seeking donations on campus. Donations collected went to help families in need. The money was to be presented to relief agencies, both domestic and foreign, as well as other charitable organizations including Chinese Universities that had been demolished by Japanese bombers.

The C.A.-L.M. Drive depended on Penn fraternities for a significant portion of their collections. Pi Kappa Alpha ranked eighth of all fraternities based on a per capita basis. Once again, Pi Kappa Alpha was proven to be a leading fraternity on campus. All Pi Kappa Alpha donors are thanked for their generosity and dedication to public service.
