The November 2024 issue of Philadelphia magazine, in an article identifying the 150 Most Influential Philadelphians, named Jeffrey Marrazzo, Beta Pi ’97, as one of the 150 persons “who are responsible” for creating a bigger and better Philadelphia.

Ranked as number 88 on this list, brother Marrazzo is described as an “Innovator Mentor” with the accompanying comment, “Science Sage: Marrazzo, former CEO at Spark Therapeutics, works with life science entrepreneurs looking to ‘change the future of human health,’ imparting wisdom gained from his experience building and selling Spark. He’s advising the economic teams of both (Pennsylvania) Governor (Josh) Shapiro and (Philadelphia) Mayor (Cherelle) Parker. And his family foundation is focusing on programs that’ll foster creativity in young Philadelphians.”

Brother Marrazzo was also named as one of the “Most Influential Philadelphians” in 2023. At that time, he had left Spark Therapeutics, the gene therapy company he co-founded, and was beginning a career as a consultant to other gene therapy companies, as an advisor to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and founder of the Marrazzo Family Foundation.

His designation as one of the Philadelphia magazine’s 150 this year indicates his new “career” is a success both in the health care field and with his family foundation, that was established to educate Philadelphia’s school children in the arts and provide this new generation with increased access to the arts. Congratulations to brother Marrazzo for earning the “150” designation, and on his continued contributions to health care research and his positive achievements with Philadelphia’s young generation.
