FOUNDERS DAY 2026

Although Beta Pi is not active on Penn’s campus this year, there will be a Founders Day weekend celebration starting on Friday, April 10, 2026. As in prior years, Beta Pi alumni will have the opportunity to renew old friendships and enjoy memories of their college years. More than one conversation will begin with “Do you remember when…”.

If you prefer to tell your stories to fraternity brothers that will be interested because of common and shared experiences, rather than an unappreciative friend or stranger, be sure to attend one or more of the activities that are planned for this weekend.

On Saturday evening, April 11, beginning at 6:30 pm, the Beta Pi Alumni Association Founders Day dinner will be held at the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel, 3549 Chestnut Street. Nineteen alumni have already committed to attend the buffet dinner. They are Joel Catania ’71, Stephen Robinson ’74, Stephen Leventhal ’67, Harvey Mackler ’72, Paul Reszutek ’76, Mark Mancini ’69, Mark Perna ’68, Jeff Kaufman ’80, Paul Zaentz ’69, Bruce Wolfson ’71, Richard Myers ’69, Dan Darkes ’68, Todd Wieseneck ’69, Richard Sussman ’69, Mitch Karig ’76, Basil Jackson ’13, Dave Edman ’73, Nick Chimicles ’67, and Morty Cohen ’65. The cost of the dinner will be $110 per person.

Festivities will begin on Friday evening, April 10, with an a la carte dinner at the White Dog Café, 3420 Sansom Street. Wives are more than welcome. Expressing their intention to attend are brothers Leventhal, Cohen, Perna, Zaentz, Darkes, Sussman, and Jackson.

As an alternative to the Friday dinner at the White Dog Café, Beta Pi alumni are attending the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. Presently planning to go to the game are Catania, Robinson, Mackler, Chimicles, Wolfson, Myers, and Edman. Expect to pay anywhere between $78 to $110 per ticket. If you want to attend the baseball game, contact Joel Catania immediately at [email protected] with the subject line “Founders Day RSVP”.

Prior to the Founders Day dinner, the annual meeting of Alpha Phi Delta/Pi Kappa Alpha alumni will be held at 4:00 pm at the Sheraton. Nearly everyone attending the Founders Day dinner will be there.

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, a breakfast buffet event will be held at the Inn at Penn at a cost of $45 per person that includes tax and gratuities. Always a favorite activity, to which wives are always welcome, the Sunday buffet features made-to-order omelets, lox and bagels, freshly baked muffins and Danish, fresh fruit, and many other delectable items. Those indicating their intention to attend the breakfast are Catania, Leventhal, Mackler, Cohen, Jackson, Perna, Zaentz, Mancini, Myers, and Sussman.

If you wish to join the festivities by attending one or more of these events, contact Joel Catania at [email protected] using the subject line “Founders Day RSVP”.
