For the third year in a row, Jeff Marrazzo, Beta Pi ’97, has been selected by Philadelphia magazine as one of the “150 Most Influential People in Philadelphia.” In the November 2025 issue, Philadelphia magazine has placed brother Marrazzo as #53 from the millions of persons living in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
This placement marks an improvement in the rankings as Jeff was previously listed as #85 in 2023 and #88 in 2024. By being chosen to be on the list, brother Marrazzo was recognized as one of the “leaders, visionaries, and doers” that impact Philadelphia in ways that are sometimes “unexpected” and “surprising.”
Brother Marrazzo was joined in this year’s ranking with Carl June, his associate at Spark Therapeutics (Spark). At Spark, Jeff was CEO. He is now Chairman of the Board of their new company, Dispatch Bio. When Jeff and Carl June were at Spark, the company developed a gene therapy to restore eyesight for persons suffering from a particular type of blindness. At Dispatch Bio, they are working on a cancer cure.
Philadelphia magazine has named them a “Dream Team” and provides the following explanation for their being on the “150” list:
“GOOD NEWS FOR HUMANS: The biotech stars have teamed up for Dispatch Bio, a company working on a universal cancer treatment for solid tumors, which represent about 90 percent of the world’s cancers. June, the Penn Med CAR T cell therapy pioneer, co-founded the start-up with a small handful of scientists, while Marrazzo, former CEO of gene therapy powerhouse Spark Therapeutics, is board chairman.”
