The HERMANATORS ride against Parkinson’s Disease on September 7, 2024, to honor brother JERRY H. HERMAN, Beta Pi ’72. The HERMANATORS, including several Beta Pi brothers, will gather once again to ride in the New England Parkinson Ride in Orchard Beach, Maine.
Every year, approximately 60,000 new cases are added to the six million people already afflicted with PD. There is no known cure for this disease that has a devastating effect on both sufferers and their families. However, it is hopeful that ongoing research will produce results. At long last, greater advancements are being made with the identification of a biomarker for Parkinsons.
One of those affected is Jerry H. Herman. Jerry was diagnosed 17 years ago and continues to fight the Parkinson’s progression with daily exercise, medicines, and physical therapy. Brother Herman has been an invaluable member of Beta Pi since the day he was initiated. During his undergraduate years, he held many positions of responsibility for his chapter, including serving as President. After graduation, he has been a loyal and active member of Pi Kappa Alpha Beta Pi Endowment Fund. Brother Herman is also the sponsor of the Dave Herman Memorial Scholarship awarded each Founders Day.
At Founders Day 2024, Jerry was awarded the Alumnus of the Year Award for all he has done and all he has meant to generations of Beta Pi brothers. If you were unable to attend Founders Day 2024 and wish to honor Jerry and take part in finding a cure for this vicious disease, you can do so by donating using the website below.
The New England Parkinson’s Ride raises funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). The MJFF is at the forefront of funding for PD research.
Beta Pi can be proud of previous years donors for their generosity to this worthy cause. If you wish to join Beta Pi brothers, in the battle to eliminate PD and in honor of Jerry, you can do so at:
